GTA 6 Needs the Alien War Back — and Only the Community Can Do It

GTA 6 Needs the Alien War Back — and Only the Community Can Do It

With GTA 6 on the horizon, GamesRadar argues it's time for players to revive GTA Online's beloved alien gang wars in the new game.

One of GTA Online's most chaotic and beloved community moments may need a grassroots revival when Grand Theft Auto VI launches — and according to GamesRadar, no one's coming to save it except the players themselves.

The piece reflects on the alien gang wars that took over GTA Online, where two factions of players — dressed in green and purple alien suits — squared off in massive, unscripted street battles. It was absurd, it was spectacular, and it was entirely player-driven. Rockstar didn't organize it. No patch triggered it. The community just decided it was happening, and it happened.

GamesRadar's argument is straightforward: with GTA 6 and its inevitable online component on the way, that same creative energy will need to come from the bottom up again. Rockstar can build the sandbox, but only the players can fill it with something this gloriously unhinged.

It's a fair point. Some of the most memorable GTA Online moments over the last decade weren't tied to a content update or a new vehicle drop — they were spontaneous, meme-driven events that spread through the community like wildfire. The alien wars are probably the clearest example of that phenomenon at its peak.

Whether GTA 6's online mode — still largely undetailed by Rockstar — will provide the right conditions for something similar remains to be seen. But if history is any guide, give players an outfit system, an open world, and enough free time, and they'll invent their own mythology. The alien wars lasted over half a decade in GTA Online. Whatever comes next in GTA VI could run even longer.
