Unlike limited physical hardware bundles or rare collector's items, digital game pre-orders have essentially unlimited availability. Rockstar is offering digital copies directly to consumers, meaning anyone can secure their pre-order without having to go through a third-party reseller — let alone pay a premium for the privilege.
Scalpers have long exploited the excitement around high-demand products, but typically their schemes rely on genuine scarcity, such as limited print physical editions or constrained hardware stock. In this case, there is no such scarcity to speak of, making anyone who purchases through eBay at an inflated price simply a victim of their own enthusiasm.
This situation serves as a timely reminder for GTA 6 fans to exercise caution before purchasing through unofficial channels. If you want to pre-order the game, going directly through official storefronts is both cheaper and safer. There is no advantage — financial or otherwise — to buying from a scalper when the product is freely and fully available at its standard price.
