GTA 6 Could Pull $5.2 Billion in Its First Week, Analysts Predict

Analysts predict GTA 6 could generate between $3.25 billion and $5.2 billion in launch-week sales — figures that would shatter entertainment industry records.

Grand Theft Auto VI may be on course for the biggest launch week in entertainment history. According to Dexerto, analysts are projecting the game will pull in somewhere between $3.25 billion and $5.2 billion in sales within its first seven days on sale.

To put that in perspective, the upper end of that range would dwarf virtually every entertainment release ever recorded — movies, albums, and games included. GTA V, which itself set benchmarks that the industry is still talking about over a decade later, generated around $800 million in its first 24 hours back in 2013. The numbers being floated for GTA 6 are in a different universe entirely.

The wide range in the forecast — nearly two billion dollars separating the low and high estimates — reflects genuine uncertainty around a few key variables: launch platform availability, day-one pricing, digital versus physical sales splits, and whether Rockstar sticks to a single launch window. A staggered release that holds back PC players, for instance, could push the ceiling lower in the short term.

Still, the underlying logic behind these projections isn't hard to follow. The global install base for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S has grown substantially since GTA V's console generation debuts, and pent-up demand after more than a decade without a mainline GTA release is real. Rockstar's marketing machine hasn't even fully kicked in yet.

Whether GTA 6 lands closer to the floor or the ceiling of those estimates, the financial stakes for Take-Two Interactive are enormous — and the official release window can't come soon enough to settle the speculation.
